Barrow ready for Freddie Flintoff

ONE of world cricket’s biggest stars is being lined up to play at Barrow later this month.
England and Lancashire all-rounder Freddie Flintoff has been cleared to play for Northern League side St Annes as part of his recovery from knee surgery.
The Preston-born 32-year-old, who retired from England’s Test side in 2009, played for the Fylde coast team as a teenager.
St Annes are due to visit Barrow’s Ernest Pass for a league fixture three weeks today.
Barrow skipper Daryl Wearing, whose high-flying side were in action at Lancaster today, said: “I’ve heard he’ll play two games for St Annes, one at home and one away, both within the next six weeks. We’ve got St Annes here at Ernest Pass in three weeks time.
“Given where we are in the league (second place) and where St Annes are (third place), they might decide we’re a big threat to them in the title race and they’ll bring Flintoff to play.
“It would be massive for the town and our club. The bar will enjoy the best takings it’s ever had – and that will just be from Flintoff!
“You’d have people flooding into Barrow to watch a game of cricket, which doesn’t happen very often.”
