The Met Office had warned that there was a risk of severe weather affecting parts of England - including Cumbria - and Scotland today.
Heavy showers with hail and thunder had been expected to develop during the day.
They will, says the Met Office, have the potential to give rainfall totals of 20 to 30mm - and possibly more than 50mm in some places.
They are expected to die out during the evening.
