Kids giving golf a try at Grange
Published at 13:04, Tuesday, 27 July 2010
THE youngest swingers in town have been starting out on the course in Grange.
PGA professional Nick Lowe has taken groups of schoolchildren out on the greens at Grange-over-Sands Golf Club to give the game a try for the first time.
More than 200 children from 12 primary schools have taken part in the Tri-Golf programme, funded through the Cumbria Golf Partnership and the Grange club.
Lowe is hoping to promote the club and the sport to youngsters, and is also running a junior golf academy during the summer holidays.
The academy costs £5 per child and all juniors are welcome. They will also be able to take up an offer to join the club for £5 until the end of January 2011.
