Manager's view on Kettering defeat

AFC joint-manager Dave Bayliss said: “We had some great chances. We had (Nick Chadwick) Chaddy’s header and (Andy Bond) Bondy’s header. Goals change games, if one of them goes in it’s a different complexion on the game.

“But again, we’ve failed to deal with one routine ball into the box and we’ve been punished.

“That first goal has changed the game and we end up getting frustrated and losing our shape, and then we concede another poor goal towards the end.

“It is frustrating when you play at home and, in our opinion, you have good spells in the game, but lose the game 2-0 when I don’t think we should have.”

The Bluebirds have now failed to win any of their last six league games at home.

Asked if he was concerned about his team’s home record, the AFC co-chief added: “Of course it’s a concern because we’re not winning and we’re getting dragged closer to the bottom-four.

“Everyone keeps saying about our games in hand, but we’ve told the players in there some home truths, some of us think we’re better than what we are and we’re not, we’re Conference Premier players, not (Football) League players, and the sooner they realise that and do the basics, the sooner we’ll be okay.

“But if they don’t realise it quickly enough we’ll bring in.”

He added: “Getting beat is going to hurt me, it’s going to hurt the players, but it should do, if I’d seen them laughing in there or reacting differently to a defeat I’d be very disappointed, but they’re all gutted, like myself, like the supporters, the directors, the chairman.”
