NBC Poker Heads Up Challenge

Advertising Feature. So, it’s that time of year again, and the NBC Poker Heads-Up Championship is upon us. Arguably the biggest and best heads-up tournament on television, 64 players will fight their way to the end, and hope to pull the crown away from last year’s winner Huck Seed. Sky Poker’s hopes are riding on their former presenter Kara Scott, who is making her debut at the heads-up championship. Kara has played in various television poker tournaments before however, and she won the PartyPoker Sports Star Challenge in 2008. She also came second in the Irish Open in 2009 (she won $312,600), and her total live winnings exceed $550,000. She currently holds the mantle for being the only woman who cashed in both the 2008 and 2009 WSOP Main Event, and indeed the second woman ever to have cashed in successive events. However, Kara will have her work cut out at the NBC Poker Heads-Up, as she’ll be clashing with some of the greatest players in the world, the likes of Doyle Brunson, Phill Hellmuth, and Johnny Chan, who, between them, have won a miraculous 31 WSOP titles.

The younger generation will be on show too, with Peter Eastgate, Jamie Gold, Joe Hachem, Jerry Yang, and Joe Cada all trying to prove they’re the very best around. The online poker community also sees some of its biggest players competing – as well as a few new faces. Tom Dwan and Patrik Antonius for example are the stalwarts of the online world, and they’ll be competing against some of the newcomers, such as Jason Mercier, Dario Minieri, and Bertrand Grospellier. So, once the draw is made and the brackets are set on 4th March 2010, bookmakers will be frantically creating odds for who they think will triumph in the championship – all you have to do is set back, and watch the action unfold.
