Outdoor swimming warning after man's body found in Cumbrian lake

People are being warned not to risk their lives by swimming in reservoirs and lakes.
As temperatures rise and the weather gets warmer, people often feel tempted to take a dip.
But the water is still very cold and dangerous.
The warning comes just days after Declan Shanley, 13, drowned after trying to pull his friend to safety from the river Kelvin in Glasgow on Friday night.
Police also found the body of a man in Coniston Water last week. The 19-year-old, thought to be from Leicestershire, was reported missing after failing to surface at Coniston Water at about 6pm on Thursday.
It is thought he had been staying at the nearby Coniston Hall campsite.
Fellow campers used a buoy to mark the location where he disappeared and police divers were able to locate and recover the body at about 11pm the same night.
Following the tragedies, United Utilities has issued a warning about swimming in lakes, reservoirs and rivers – which has been supported by Cumbria Police.
Polly Rourke, from United Utilities, said: “We welcome people on to our land but we can't say it loudly enough – never swim in reservoirs, lakes or rivers. They might look inviting to swimmers – particularly on warm days like these – but cooling off in them can be deadly.
“The water temperature rarely gets above freezing, even in summer. This is cold enough to take your breath away. The body's natural reaction is to cut off the supply of blood to the arms and legs making it difficult to swim and which can lead to panic and drowning.
“We would strongly encourage parents to spell out the dangers to their children this summer.
